About Me
Hello I'm Holly and i'm 22 years old. I live in Basildon, Essex.
I am currently a volunteer for British Red Cross and St Lukes Hospice. These job roles involve me providing emotional support to those who need it. I really enjoy working with people and i believe this shines through in my personality.
I am a kind, caring and fun individual. I love meeting new people and learning new things. I am commited to projects i undertake and have a flexible working pattern. I am trustworthy, reliable and confident within myself and my ability.
I love to travel and have been fortunate to visit many parts of the world including.. Asia, Europe, North & South America and Africa. I enjoy learning about different cultures and people. I was lucky to be able to help out in an Orphanage in Thailand and also visit schools when in Singapore. I am well educated and will always give anything a go!
I was born 11 weeks prematurely and due to lack of oxygen at birth i was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy aged 3. All through life i have had mobility problems and find it difficult walking for long distances. I use a wheelchair when i go out and i know alot of walking would be required. This saves me getting tired and makes travelling around alot quicker! I have had several operations to correct my walking and i believe this has helped me in my adult life. I am able to drive and have become very independant.
I live life and believe in this quote strongly..
"Be the change you want to see in the world" - Gandhi
TV/Film, Theatre or Modelling Experience
In 2007 i travelled to Ecuador with 9 other disabled people and expedition leader Ken Hames. We trekked across the Amazon Rainforest and The Andes Mountains. This was all filmed for the award winning series called "Beyond Boundaries". It was screened on BBC2 in May 2008.
May 2008: Featured on ITV's THIS MORNING with 2 fellow team mates from Beyond Boundaries. We were interviewed about our experience in Ecuador.
I learnt alot about tv set up and the happenings behind-the-scenes of a Live tv programme.
Also In May 2008 i appeared as an Extra in a feature film. This involved me travelling to Bristol for 3 days on set. The film was set in 1940s about how Hitler treated disabled people. The acting role required me to use facial expressions and body language mainly and this was sometimes challenging. I really enjoyed the experience and learnt alot.
The film will be shown in Exhibitions across the UK and Europe in September 2008.
