About Me
An enthusiastic hard working 44 year old woman. I have a below knee, right leg amputation which was caused by a road traffic accident when I was 23 years of age.
I am a mother of two and mainly work from home running art workshops and painting. I was a teacher in a secondary school up untill last year, but found I had little time to complete my commissions.
Special Skills or What makes you Extra Ordinary?
My career as a painter has been relatively short. Starting my formal art training in 2001, I realized that it was possible to commit to a long-term ambition as a practicing artist along side looking after my children. Since then I have exhibited at the National Portrait gallery on two occasions. The first exhibition was the BP portrait awards; exhibiting along side the countries top fifty portraitists. I was also asked by the National Portrait Gallery to exhibit along side Tracy Emin, Marc Quinn and other artists for the NPG’s celebratory 150th anniversary. After the exhibition our works of art were auctioned off and the Right Hon Baroness Valerie Amos acquired a piece of art drawn by me.
My work reflects our busy and inclusive society. I usually paint from a sitting and an array of photographs that I take.
